Inventing the Rest of Our Lives: Women in Second Adulthood
by Suzanne Braun Levine, Plume 2006

Inventing the Rest of Our Lives: Women in Second AdulthoodLevine’s central premise is that “You’re Not Who You Were, Only Older”! In an era where we are living much longer many of us will have a second adulthood. We may feel we are ‘done’ at 50 – 60 years old so what to do and be for the next 30 – 50 years? This book is an easy to read and thought provoking exploration and speculation about what matters, what works and moving on to what’s next.

Fierce Conversations: Achieving Success at Work and in Life, One Conversation at a Time
by Susan Scott.

Fierce Conversations: Achieving Success at Work and in Life, One Conversation at a TimeSusan makes the observation "that our work, our relationships, and, in fact, our very lives succeed or fail gradually, then suddenly, one conversation at a time."

I agree wholeheartedly and am very clear in my own work that the quality of our conversations will determine the quality of our relationships and therefore our ability to live and work together.

However it is one thing to understand the need to do so and quite another to learn and apply the conversation skills necessary. "Fierce Conversations" will give you a whole range of tools to learn and use yourself. And it is an easy to read book.

Transitions: Making Sense of Life's Changes was written for the each of us as individuals.

Transitions: Making Sense of Life's ChangesI first came across it when I was doing my Ceremony for Transitions through Crisis module through AUT in 1998.

Bridges's simple model of the emotional journey of change continues to provide me with useful strategies of understanding change - what is ending, what is in 'limbo' right now and to start thinking about the opportunities they may come from the changes I am facing.

It is also a great way to appreciate some of my living in hindsight! A book and a model for lifetime use by everyone.

Managing Transitions: Making the Most of Change is written for organisations and the individuals charged with leading and managing change in the workplace.

Managing Transitions: Making the Most of ChangeEasy to read with practical checklists for each change phase, endings, neutral and beginnings. Clearly spells out the benefits of understanding transition and applying this understanding and the cost of not doing so.

This is required reading for all my Change & Transition clients.
